With the club in the air, it is time for you to get your body positioning right so that you could take a good shot. It’s too bad, that so many golfers focus on swinging their entire bodies, instead of swinging their club, they do this because they think it will give them more power in their shot. Let’s start with the legs. It is very important to keep your back knee bent throughout your entire backswing. Now shift the entire weight of your body on to your back foot. This action will most likely cause you front foot to raise off the ground. Raising your foot slightly above the ground level is an acceptable practice, if professional golfers are to be believed. This comes with a risk though – Lift your foot too high and you might run the risk of going off balance. So keep that in mind. Your hips should be twisted little and your shoulders at an angle of around 90o, also your left shoulder should generally be under the chin. Keep you left arm straight and right arm folded.

When you are the top of your backswing, you should feel that you have maximum strength and force in you. Your body should possess so much energy that it should send the ball to the desired distance when you hit it.
Practice is the only way you could improve your backswing and get it to the level of professional golfers. So, if you really want to have the best backswing possible, there’s still no way around it, you’ll have to practice as much as you can. Now, to do this, you don’t have to go anywhere, because you can practice even in front of the mirror in your home. Better still – Call your friend who knows how to play golf and ask him to correct your mistakes.
